Who is Imam Ahmed Elkhaldy? |

Imam Elkhaldy is President of the Muslim American Society (Iowa Chapter), as well as he is the National Director of the Service Corps (MSC), MAS Service Corps is the newly established charity and volunteer division of the Muslim American Society. Prior to that Imam Ahmed served as the National Director of the Inter Religious Center of the Muslim American Society. He also served six years as Imam of the Islamic Center of Cedar Rapids and four years as Associate Imam of the Islamic Society of Central Florida. He has been a member of the Inter-Religious Council of Linn County’s Board of Directors since 2000, and has served as Vice-President since 2004. He is a co-founder and member of the Executive Committee of the Children of Abraham in Cedar Rapids, formed in 2005. In 2006 Elkhaldy joined the Board of Directors of Barnabas Uplift, an outreach program to assist the working poor in the community. In addition, he is a member of the Nation outreach department of the Muslim American Society. Elkhaldy has done extensive work in public education and outreach programs, leading seminars and workshops locally and nationally for churches and retreat centers, including Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran and Presbyterian; public and private middle and high schools; colleges, including Kirkwood Community College, Coe College, and Mt. Mercy College, all in Cedar Rapids, and Cornell College in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, the University of Iowa in Iowa City, and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls; law enforcement groups, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the U.S. Marshals; U.S. Army and U.S. Marines personnel; educators’ groups; Rotary and Optimist clubs; the International Visitors Leadership program at the University of Iowa; and presentations and workshops on interfaith and diversity within the working and school environment. In addition, Elkhaldy teaches Arabic and Islamic Studies for continuing education programs at Kirkwood Community College, and is a speaker and moderator for many local and national conferences. He has been a guest on TV and radio talk shows, and is a trainer for inter-faith work. Elkhaldy has a second-degree black belt in Judo, and practices Hapkido, Arnis and Kumdo. He is a licensed Judo instructor with the United States Martial Arts Association and enjoys leading youth activities and programs
