US Muslims Reach Out During Holy Season |

The Muslim American Society is pleased to announce Outreach Season 2008.
MSC’s Outreach Season 2008 will provide the opportunity for Muslims across the nation to reach out to their non-Muslim neighbors and share the joy of Ramadan and this season of mercy and giving.
What is Outreach Season 2008?
Outreach Season is a period of time of about three months long, which
falls between the start of Ramadan and the end of ‘Eid ul-Adha. During
this timeframe, we have the blessed month of Ramadan (prescribed
fasting for all Muslims), ‘Eid Al-Fitr (marks the end of Ramadan), Hajj
(pilgrimage to Mecca), and ‘Eid ul-Adha (marks the end of Hajj). Those
four events are filled with worship, obedience, and submission to Allah
(SWT). These events are very visible within the Muslim community but
less visible to the nation as a whole.
Outreach Season is the hope to
make these events and this season fully utilized by reaching out beyond
the Muslim community in order to share with our fellow citizens the
mercy, blessings and joy of this blessed time. During this time, we
should also be extending our hands to help the needy in our community,
to opening dialogue and channels of communications with interfaith
groups and to our neighbors and the society at large.
In cities across the United States Muslims and non-Muslims will come
together as brothers and sisters for special events such as Town Hall
meetings and Civic Iftars (fast breaking dinners), Iftars for the
Needy, Neighborhood Iftars and Eid Games, Interfaith Receptions, and
the Eid al-Adha Meat Drive. Open Houses, Toy Drives for sick children,
and Professional Development seminars for Educators.
The Muslim
American Society cordially invites you to attend the Outreach events
being held in your city. Help build the bridge and dissolve the
misconceptions that exist among us.
